Topic : Vachetta replacement.
We all love a good Neverfull, but how do we keep it looking as new as long as possible?
Most of them are simply workhorses, easy to grab, fit the kitchen sink, and look great
Well one thing you can do is to keep it clean, but vachetta (reasonably minimal on a NF) can be quite a daunting part of the bag.
Sometimes it needs a vachetta replacement and allow me to break it down for you in current quoted UK prices (end December 2021);
Full vachetta replacement on a NF £400
2 Handles only £160
Upper Trim only £160
Side cinches £40 (I believe each, but not 100% certain on this)
So why is the upper trim only, so disproportionately expensive , I hear you ask. It is because the pre-2021 models of the NF have a separate flap for the pocket.
When you take the upper trim off, the pocket becomes loose, date code/chrono etc and effectively you have to rebuild the bag.
I was told today, that the NEW policy is to just replace the flap, with its pocket (and made in heatstamp) with a brand new flap. They won't put the old one back, even on request, they won't do it. Hence it is £160 - the economics of this boggle me as it used to be £40.....
So I was struggling to decide , because of course my interior had faded, with time, so a brand new flap would look odd to say the least. In the end I decided to keep my old flap, upper trim etc because of this and just went for simple handle replacements.
Hope this helps you, fellow Neverfull owners x Pictures are of 2 of my favourite limited editions.
